A local charity based in Hampton Hill and founded in 2005, working with communities in Uganda, Zambia and South Sudan to provide schools with the resources they need to provide children with a quality education. African Revival build classrooms, latrines and washroom facilities, train teachers and establish parent-teacher associations to promote an ownership of the education projects. The aim is for the charity’s efforts to be sustained by the community to offer a bigger chance for future generations.

The Need

80% of the world's poorest countries are in Africa, and over 50% of the population is under the age of 16. 38 million children in Africa are not in school, and 80% of those children are in rural areas. A child born to a literate mother is 50% more likely to survive past its 5th birthday.

Over recent months African Revival has been working with Juba Road Primary School in Uganda and is delighted that the construction projects at the School are now complete. Basic core text books and teaching materials for the staff have also been provided.

January 2012 saw the completed of the building of a new classroom block at the Longamere Primary School in South Sudan. The school teaches over 340 children.

More work is being funded at Kasizi in Zambia, namely a triple classroom block and the renovation of another double block.

Moving forward agreements are now in place to fund a new Teacher House for Muumba Community School in Zambia and the school at Koch Lila, urgently needs new toilets, classroom repairs and more teaching materials and the first phase is starting on these projects.

Thank you to all our supporters at Christ Church Epsom, who help African Revival with this on-going essential work where it is most needed
